Being in Learning: Making Text Meaningful
NATD Conference 1st & 2nd November 2024
NATD Conference 2024 will explore being in role. The concepts of 'living through' and metaxis will be central to the work, and to enabling participants to engage with the construction of classroom dramas that invoke a “visceral, affective immersion in the event leading to an imaginative reasoned reflection" (David Davies, Imagining the Real 2014). Using the story of Antigone, practical workshops and keynotes will lay bare the process of planning work that enables students to experience an event and reflexively bring drama to life.
The 1st November will comprise online sessions featuring both international and UK practitioners. They will complement the practical work of the actual conference on 2nd November. They are offered free of charge by NATD.
Conference update:
In conjunction with the Dorothy Heathcote Now 2024 conference we are able to offer a 10% reduction to those who book for both conferences . We are delighted to be working with David Allen of Midland Actors Theatre on this and see the two conferences as highly complementary, each exploring important and different aspects of Drama pedagogy.
